There once was a girl from the sun
She went to the race to run
She tripped over a log, she ate a hotdog,
Then she picked her self up and she won!

Warm, soft and cozy.

Bed so cozy like a tiny soft baby panda.
Blankets so warm like a heater, heating up your room.
Pillows so soft like if you’re jumping in a big bowl of cotton candy.

If its freedom I long for, its freedom
I’ll get, deep in their hearts they will
regret, a young wild mustang is hard
to contain, they will once more allow
for my freedom to reign.

Oceans are clear blue.
Coming waves to the shore.
East and west the waves are going.
Amazing creatures inside.
Natural blue water.

I AM FROM…

I am sad, mad.
I wonder about walking on the clouds.
I hear rain.
I see clouds.
I want to fly.
I am sad, mad.

I pretend I’m flying.
I feel wind around.
I touch sky.
I worry to die.
I cry I have nothing to do.
I am sad, mad.

I understand nothing at all.
I say I cry.
I dream alot.
I try not crying.
I hope to fly.
I am sad, mad.

Leaves crackle to my heavy step.
Sun rays blind me so.

Fall poem

Fall is yellow, red, brown, green and orange.
It sounds like leaves crunching under my feet.
It tastes like pumpkin pie.
It smells like turkey.
It looks like leaves everywhere.
It feels like rain drops.

Hot pink is…

Having a soul sister is hot pink.
It sounds like your best friends laugh.
It tastes like the best hot chocolate you’ve ever had.
It smells like the cotton candy from long beach.
It looks like you having the best hair day ever.
It makes me feel like I’m at an awesome party!

Fifth graders write poetry:

Autumn

Autumn is crispy brown
It sounds like rain dropping in a puddle
It tastes like rain when it hits your tongue
It smells like air in the breeze
It looks like a foggy Wednesday creeping up on you
It makes me feel like having a cup of steamy apple cider

Poetry Friday: A Collaborative Poem

20130419-062650.jpg

There is a daily collaborative poem for this month. Today’s link is HERE. It also happens that poetry round-up is there.

Joy Acey has a progressive poem HERE.

Over the last two weeks my second grade poetry club worked on a collaborative poem. The first line by moi started them off.   This is the first week:

20130419-072118.jpg

And this week we arranged the lines. After much discussion, this is the final poem:

I like the morning sun and playing
Morning poppies dance in the breeze
Flowers grow every year
Grow, grow for me.

Baby birds are hatching
Flowers watching the blue, blue sky
Bees buzzing all around
Bees buzzing for pollen

The BBQ smell in the air
Daffodils are blooming and growing
Birds are chirping in their beautiful voices
The soft grass gently flowing in the wind.

And here are the happy poets:

This week’s poetry comes from Mr. Yates’ fourth grade class. It’s a variety of forms.

I have a rock collection
The rocks are from the ground
Colorful rocks are what a rock collector wants
Interesting rocks are what people need
Rocks make roads and collectors collect them
Rocks are all over the world
Humans use lots rocks to make roads and science projects
But rocks are cool just the way they are.
