Violet Nesdoly is hosting Poetry Friday. Thanks Violet!!
Today is the fourth Friday of May which means original poetry day. In response to Laura Purdie Salas’ challenge for a water cinquain at Today’s Little Ditty:
Inspired by the great blue heron flying past my car on the way home this week.
great blue
heron soaring
and spearing tiny fish
on the Columbia River
one glimpse
Have a fabulous weekend.
Happy Poetry. Happy Friday.
I’ve only seen a great blue heron once — and it was just a short glimpse. Your poem brought back that lovely memory. 🙂
It’s supposed to be good luck when one sees a great blue, Jone. How wonderful! Hope your weekend is good, too!
Lovely, and really made me smile at the end. I know that “one glimpse” experience.
Nice to just catch a glimpse of a great blue-there’s no mistaking such magnificent birds!
This is lovely and majestic, Jone! Thanks for taking part in this month’s cinquain challenge.
Nice cinquain. And one glimpse is surely all you’ll get. They are very quick when they spear those fish!
Oh, my. I love that one glimpse.
