Poetry Friday: Art, Music, and Postcards

Welcome come to Poetry Friday.  Today it’s hosted by Kimberly at Written Reflections.

Tabatha Yeatts suggested quite the challenge: match music to poetry.  I didn’t think I could make this happen and yet when I received this postcard from Donna as part of a postcard exchange, Enya’s  Orinoco Flow (Sail Away) came to mind.

Creating art and exchanging it was great fun.  I received these:

postcards PF

postcards in the mailbox
four by six
art pieces flung out
into the world

Left: from Lisa in Washington DC.
Middle: from Donna in Maine
Right: from Amy, Oregon (and organizer of the exchange) PS  Amy heads up Get Sparked as well.

Speaking of postcards, it’s not too early to signup for the Poetry Postcard Project for National Poetry Month.  Fill out this FORM or go HERE.

Be sure to return Sunday, February 14th for the big reveal of the 2015 CYBILS Poetry Award.  I am very pleased and excited.

Happy Poetry.

Happy Friday.

  1. Enya has been a favorite of mine for years, ever since Orinoco Flow first came out! Amazing that you would pick that! I just love that you paired my poem with it.

  2. That’s fun that you paired Donna’s poem with a favorite performer of hers 🙂 I like that they are watery opposites — the song entices you to move but the poem stands firm.

  3. All you creative folks continually amaze me! This is a really interesting combination! I can’t wait until tomorrow to see which one of those seven terrific books they picked. Can’t imagine having to choose one!
