Today Poetry Friday is hosted by Laura at Writing the World for Kids.
Today’s poems are the result of studying the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

I am strong as a bear
Shooting, firing and yelling at the bear
Charbonneau is Sacagawea’s husband
Courageous, strong, mean

Happy Friday.
Happy Poetry.
These are terrific combinations of facts and figurative language. I love that! Good job, poets:>)
I like the way these poems celebrate our old country with its more abundant wildlife and I especially like Charbonneau, whose very name is a poem.
Lovelovelove the history/poetry connection. These kids really captured their historical characters!
I so love connecting their social studies to poetry.
Great idea and work to pair the history with poetry! I appreciate how the students showed their learning through the words in their poems!
Lovely to see poetic devices in play to capture snippets of history. (Curriculum integration is always a good thing!)
