I’m so happy to be hosting Poetry Friday this week. Did you see the news about the CYBILS winners on Wednesday. So many great reads. And if you haven’t gotten your hands on this book, I’M JUST NO GOOD AT RHYMING, you should. It’s the 2017 CYBILS Poetry Winner. Guaranteed to make kids of all ages laugh out loud.
And just wanted to share the postcards I received last month:
Which brings me to the 10th Annual Student Poetry Postcard Event. Sign up today. Get a postcard in the mail in April for National Library Month. This may be the last year for this project with my retirement at the end of the year.
Just returned from a bit of book shopping and saw your Poetry Friday post was up. Found myself somewhat astonished to read about the book, ‘I’m Just No Good At Rhyming’ by Chris Harris and Lane Smith in your post as it was one of my purchases! How’s that for synchronicity? Poetic providence. Thank you for hosting. I look forward to delving into my latest acquisition. I also bought, ‘The Poet’s Dog’ by Patricia McLachlan, so it was a day for American poets. What joyful discoveries in my local bookshop in far away Australia…
I love that picture of you, Jone! I haven’t yet read I’m Just No Good At Rhyming, but I guess I’d better! Thanks for hosting this week and for another fun postcard event. 🙂
Thank you, Jone!
Thanks, Jone, it’s been an exciting week for children’s lit. I just bought I’m No Good at Rhyming, too, wanted to re-read it at my leisure! Thanks for hosting & for the poetry event, one more time!
Jone, that pic of you is awesome! 🙂 And I do love that book… great choice. I have loved your postcard project… thank you, and thanks to the students for sharing their words and art. Excited for your new chapter! xo
Thanks for this beautiful splash of color Jone, and I love your photo-so animated. “I’m Just No Good At Rhyming” and me are going to meet up soon! Thanks too for hosting the Roundup.
Thanks for the good work with the Cybils, Jone. Am looking forward to reading I’m Just No Good at Rhyming and receiving another poetry postcard in April. Thanks for hosting this week!
Sorry I couldn’t join you in the Cybils discussion this year. I had a co-worker, not a reader of poetry, put a plastic cover on I’m Just No Good at Rhyming during processing. She opened it, read it, and brought it to me because she thought it was awesome! I think the committee picked a true winner!
Thanks for hosting, Jone – I remembered to sign up for the postcards this year, and am looking forward to seeing what shows up!
Thanks so much, Jone!
thanks for hosting! I was so exciting to see all the Cybils winners. I am excited to read I’m Just No Good at Rhyming.
Jone, what a great photo of you looking so perky and excited. Thank you for bringing the 10th Annual Student Poetry Postcard Event. I am always delighted to receive your students’ poetry postcards.

I love your student poetry post cards! Thank you for sending them. I look forward to them and reading I’m Just No Good at Rhyming.
Like so many others, I love your picture. Fun! I signed up for a postcard (first time!) and can’t wait to add it to my fridge when it arrives. Thanks for hosting this week!

Thank you, Jone, for doing the grunt work behind the scenes of the Cybils Poetry Award while we judges get to have all the fun! It was a great experience, just like last time. I’m sharing the Panel’s blurb for the award and one of my favorite spreads of IJNGAR, as it came to be known. I think that’s pronounced i-jin-garrrrrrr!

What a fun picture! Thanks for all your work on the Cybils and for sharing. I’ll have to find this book. Thanks too for the postcard project. I hope you have great plans for your retirement!
Thanks for hosting so much poetry goodness today! It looks like I have another poetry book to add to my stack of books I want to read! Aren’t the postcards delightful? And I’ve signed up for a postcard for April. Last year’s postcard was a delight.
Jone, congratulations on your upcoming retirement! Thank you for all of the work you do — coordinating the Cybils judges for poetry, all of the postcard projects (I’m excited to sign up for a student postcard again). I’m so glad we’ve connected through Poetry Friday.
