Thanks to Irene at Live Your Poem for hosting Poetry Friday today.
At Today’s Little Ditty, Michelle recently interviewed Joyce Sidman who challenged readers to write a “deep wisdom” poem. It’s raining here so what’s the deep wisdom of rain?
What does the rain know?
Sponge clouds gathering moisture
School children running between raindrops
The pop-up gardens of umbrellas.
What does the rain know?
The wind whispering secrets
School children with open mouths catching raindrops
The beginning and end of rainbows.

Happy Friday.
Happy Poetry.
I especially love the lines about children. The rain seems to understand them so well.
Jone, how lovely this is: the wind whispering secrets. This gives me food for thought at a later time. Is this your offering for the Winter Whisperings Gallery?
The last line of each stanza made me say, “ah!” Very nice, Jone.
This is gorgeous, Jone! I love “The pop-up gardens of umbrellas.” I just want to make sure, since you didn’t send it to me directly, I can post it on TLD, right?
OOoh, the pop up gardens of umbrellas! Wonderful, Jone! I love thinking about what the rain knows. Great challenge from Joyce — love the work it’s producing! xo
It’s hard to comment late, all my favorite lines are taken. But still, it’s lovely, Jone, love the “pop up gardens of umbrellas” most.
You know rain well, don’t you, Jone?!?!
“pop up garden of umbrellas” – that’s a sound I shal endeavour to listen to. 🙂
